Amberh: How did you get to play Tibia?
Oblivian Archer: Well I think it's pretty much the standard story, I had a friend playing it and he showed it to me, but I never got very far on my first chars, which were a knight and a druid. This friend quit long ago, and so did I for quite a while then. I started again later.
A: Why are you playing Harmonia?
OA: I played Valoria first but a good friend, who convinced me to become a tutor as well, moved here and I since I was up to some change, so did I.
A: I noticed you have a char on Arcania, but haven't logged in on it for months and the one on Valoria, also not logged in for at least a month. Are you done with PvP?
OA: Well, yeah for the moment. I don't really like the concept of PvP. I rather play with people then against them. The Valoria char is my old knight, quit her quite some time ago and the Arcania char was to visit friends from Harmonia :)

I first saw Obli in the help Channel. His name reminded me of Diablo, a
game that I loved before I played Tibia. That was the reason I asked him
to join our guild in the first place. I founded Tapherial with some
friends. A lot of guild members are inactive now because of holidays or
school. When the last leader stepped back, the leadership was given to
Obli. He was the only one that would do that job :D. I had no time to take
the leadership, nor do I have the time now. The guild has improved since
he is leader; he always makes decisions that are best for the guild; like
rules and how we handle our guild treasure. I don't have a clue how much
that is worth now, but it must be 200k+. I wouldn't call Obli a brave
hunter, but he is reliable and helpfull. I think he is really made for
Harmonia; don't think he would be happy on a PvP server. You would need to
solve a lot of trouble between guilds with warfare. You need a kind of
dictator, which he isn't. He is peacefull; I have never seen him angry,
insulitng anyone or use words like f* or shit or other strong words. He
has a strange sense of humor though, that only he and Thumps seem to
understand. The only thing bad I can say about him is that he doesn't give
me all of his money :D I meet a lot of people in Tibia and most are really
egoistic; he is the best person I've met in this world.
A:You are the leader of Tapherial. How did you become leader?
OA:Well Katie and James founded the guild, but Katie retired after a while. She said she might be back later and transferred leadership to me. When she came back it turned out the members wanted to keep me as leader.
A:Can you tell us why you think the guild members wanted to keep you as their leader?
OA:I hope it was because of how I've always tried to run the guild.
A:Do you like leading a guild?
OA:It can be tiresome sometimes, but yeah I like it, although there's really not much to it ^^
A:So it does not take up much of your time?
OA:Not really. I often think I don't spend enough time on it though, but that's mostly because I often forget to do stuff like make a forumthread or change a title and such. I like to see myself more as a guide to the guild then a leader; I take charge in the meetings and take care of simple jobs, but for all decisions we vote. I prefer not taking any big decisions myself.
A:One of your guildmemebrs mentioned the Guild treasure. Can you tell something about that?
OA:We have guildhunts with which we build up a sort of hunting supply. Those guildhunts are done with the supply from the stash and all loot goes there. It's also used for paying the guildhall and such.
A:Are you the only who has access to the treasure?
OA:No. Me and our appointed stashkeepers. Thumps used to be one, but since he is a bit inactive now only me and Maartentjoh have access.
A:Are you going to split it up at some point?
OA:No that's not the idea. We just keep it in the stash to do more expensive hunts later; for instance we plan to go to Dragon Lords sometime soon.

When I just started playing I saw this high lvl dutchman. So I said Hi,
fri itens plx, etc., I didn't get them. :p Obli is nice, but giving stuff
away that is worth something isn't something he would do (as far is I
know). At lvl 40 started to hunt with him quite often and we got to know
eachother better. We are still good friends, right Obli? :p At some point
I asked him if I could join Tapherial, but it was full then. When they
started to recruit I was still a little pissed off about that so I didn't
sign up. Later I met Thumps and he asked me to join. I was kinda suprised
but I said yes. Thumps made me a voting topic and within a week I was in
this guild I had (almost) always looked up too. I think Obli is a very
good boss who really wants his guild to grow. All guilds have different
kind of 'styles' and for our style he is the rigth leader. I think he's a
very good hunter too, a good tactics man. I especially like the
Uhing-thingie :p: I throw uh's on the ground so I can sit back and relax,
while he has to focus on my hp all the time. That way he tries to make my
blocking less of a waste.The only thing I don't like about him is when he
tells me he can't hunt hero's with me because he wants to watch tv,
hahahaha. Nah, seriously, he's a good person. Always busy trying to help
someone. Ofcourse he did bad things, but who doesn't. I think he once
killed Angel del Kaoss by blocking him or something, although he sais he
didn't do it. But if he did, i see that more as something good then as
something bad. He did tell me he is too lazy to get a holiday job!! :D:D:D
He rather sits behind his computer with the airco on and plays Tibia :p
A:What you think about being a pally, is it the best voc?
OA:I dunno. It certainly has some advantages over other chars which I really like; it can attack from distance and take the range hits from his oponents with ease. It has the ability to do virtually everything to certain degree, but what a paladin lacks is a specialisation.
A:What would you like to see added as specialisation?
OA:Nothing, else it would truly be overpowered. Paladin is made as an all-purpose vocation; adding a specialisation would make the balance of vocations go away.
A:Don't you see his distance skills as some form of specialistion already?
OA:True, but the range combat of a Mage is much higher ^^
A:But bolts are cheaper:)
OA:Yeah they are, but for higher level's the most hunts consist of very strong creatures, like demons, which you would rather kill with more power even if that's more expensive.
A:When would call someone a good pally?
OA:Haha, well pretty much when he has the abilities I don't have: being quick with runes, because paladins often have to switch between UH's and attacking runes. Other than that I don't think there are many skills a paladin needs, because he can adept his doing quite easy to his abilities.
A:Do you think a pally is more suited for the solo artists?
OA:Yes for sure
A:Do you prefer group hunts or solos?
OA:I prefer solo, or small group, 2-3 people maximum. I don't quite like big groups.
A:Would you tell us what you consider the best way to exp for a pally?
OA:Umpf that's a very hard one, but basically everything where you can use bolts and offensive runes with or without blocker that doesn't matter much.
A:Where did you get most of your exp?
OA:Dwarf guards and dragons I'd say. Mostly without runes I might add, that's just to expensive for me most of the time. :)
A:Aren't you rich?
OA:At the moment I am for my doing. I don't have any fancy equipment, but I don't need that really, but at the moment I have enough money to buy runes and bolts, so I'm rich enough. :)

I met Obli in the mainland where he was waiting for me with some equip to
get started. I of course knew him already, 'cause he's a RL friend. I
would like to become a member of Tapherial because it is the only guild
with a good democracy. They have a lot of meetings an do much together.
Even though I am a RL friend, before I can get in all members must agree
and not only the leader of the guild, which is a good policy. I will have
to get at least 4 votes and all members have a veto right. Obli has some
things a good leader must have; he is patient, democratic, kind and
trustworthy. I think he is an example of a nice Tibia player. He speaks
with everyone, goes killing lured GSs and helps with quests. He spends
most of his time on helping people and could hunt more. When he does hunt
he is versatile; he can block (and does when it is needed) but also bolt
or be a shooter. When he hunts alone he never finds loot (he might be
cursed) He doesn't have much gp, but he is rich in friends.
A:I'm sure you met a lot of people in Tibia. Is there a "special person" for you?
OA:hmm... There's of course my Real Life friends who I trust more then others of course, and Thumps used to be special, he was my hunting buddy for quite a while untill he retired.
A:No lovely lady stashed away somewhere?
OA:Well no actually.
A: Do you have any enemies, anyone you just can't stand?
OA:No, not specifically a person, I don't like how people act sometimes, but I know people can change so, no.
A:What do you hate most in Tibia?
OA:Probably people trying to ruin the fun for other people.
A:What was up with Exitus?
OA:haha, well like I said I don't like people trying to ruin the fun for others and Exitus is a fairly wellknown trapsetter and lurer.(Arial's comment; he's been banished for it at least once) The reason I pick on him more then on other lurers and such is because he actually tried pushing me towards a dragon once or twice. To keep him from his bad deeds I followed him around from time to time to kill his lures and such. Often he just logged after a while because he was having no "fun".
A:But you dont consider him an enemy?
OA:Depends on how you define enemy, apart from the fact I don't like what he's doing he seems a fairly nice guy actually. But I guess you could call him an enemy of mine, yes, as long as he keeps hurting others.
A:What do you think of high level arrogance?
OA:hmm... I always like to think that they have a reason to behave the way some of them do sometimes, although I know it's not true. I think being strong just makes them feel better then others.
A:Does being a high level do something for your ego?
OA:Well, it feels good when people tell you they like your level and say they admire you so, yeah it's very good for you ego :p

I met Obli in Maartentjohs privat channel and later in the guild chat :)
Our guild chat is fun most of the times, but sometimes a little silent.
Obli is not bad as leader; he listens to what we want and we vote about
almost everything. As a hunter he is an EVUL PG! I did the Banshee quest
seals and the Djinn tower with him, on the last he blocked and shot. He
cleaned out almost everything together with Viise. Finishing the green
Djinn quest with him is my best "Obli" memory so far. As far as I know he
does not hogg exp. Can't remember forum threads like "OMG!! OBLI LEVEL
100+ IS EXPTHEIG!! He makes me feel safe during a hunt; I haven't died
with him so far. I respect him, and it looks like a lot of ohters do the
same. I don't think his high level went to his head because he's still
talking to me, even when I'm 57? levels lower. There is probably something
I don't like about him, but I just can't remeber it atm. He is a friendly,
funny guy :)
A:Did you ever come close to breaking the rules?
OA:Well, in former times on my old knight and such I did use tibia gg or similar. On this char I broke the rules once I think. I lured some trolls on someone macro'ing out of frustration of no GM online. I sort of regret that now since I know it's not right, but what's done is done.
A:What is it that keeps Tibia interesting for you after all this time?
OA:Hmm... pretty much the hunting and talking with friends.
A:Any wishes for the future?
OA:Well I, like many others would still like to complete the Annihilator quest fairly and I hope that Tapherial will one day be the oldest and most respected guild on Harmonia :) {Arial comments; Tapherial is already the oldest surviving guild on Harmonia.)
A:What went wrong with annihilator anyway ? I know you died, but what should you do different?
OA:haha I need to practise my UH'ing, I got an exhaust and was to late with clicking a new UH :p Like I said it's a skill a paladin needs which I lack ^^

Obli is a RL friend. We talk alot about his leadership irl and I make it
clear when I agree or disagree with him. That way it is not strange to
have him as my guild leader. It doesn't bother me that he is so much
higher in level. He showed me (and Nikkie) Tibia when he was playing at
Valoria. I started there too, but when Harmonia came, we both switched
here. I started a little later here, because I was F-acc at the time. It
is always fun to hunt together but because he has a higher level he hunts
more and more alone lately. Which gives him bad loot luck :p I find it
hard to say when a player is a good paly; Obli plays the way he likes
without bothering others (except for Exitus ofcourse) so he is good in my
eyes. He seems really good in pkíng quest teams, like he did at his first
Banshee attempt. Maybe you should ask Thumps or Allifious about that. I
wasn't there but from the movie and Obli's story I know he accidently
pk'ed 6-8 people by walking at the Warlock seal...:p I don't think he has
any enemies exept for Exitus Linkenhand. Obli has been following him for
days. killing his creatures and stopping him from setting up traps. To
your question whether he there is anything strange or funny about him I
would say: nothing I should share :) He should drink more beer and he
really needs to go out sometimes in RL :p
